Advanced Asset Picker Omeka S module

Releases

  • Researchers who open the Asset Library page now get Omeka's Forbidden page with HTTP status 403. They used to get Omeka's error page Omeka S encountered an error with status 500.
  • The JSON API answers every refused request with HTTP 403 and {"status": "error", "message": "Access denied."}. Opening a folder, bulk edits and file replacement by authors and reviewers, and any request from a researcher or without a session, used to get Omeka's HTML error page with status 500, which the library's scripts could not read. Who may do what is unchanged.
  • The JSON API works on installations where no other module switches on Omeka's JSON output. The module relied on another module (such as Blog or OG Images) to do it; without one, every API call, and so the Asset Library and the CKEditor Insert Asset dialog, failed with an HTML error page. It now registers the JSON output itself.

  • Bulk Edit (and the detail drawer's Save) changes only the fields sent. It was a full API update, so an alt-text-only edit cleared the name, failed validation and still reported success, and a name-only edit wiped the alt text.
  • Bulk edit, move and delete report the assets that could not be changed: the response has failed (id and message), status is error when any failed, and the library shows the first failure instead of a success message. Assets that did change are still listed and the grid refreshes.
  • A rejected replace (a different extension, or not a JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP image) returns HTTP 400 with its explanation. It returned a 500 error page, so the library only said "Replace failed (HTTP 500)".
  • Replacing a file keeps the asset's name; an asset with no name takes the uploaded file's name. The name was always set to the uploaded filename.
  • The current page number in the Insert Asset dialog's pagination is readable: Omeka's disabled-button text color hid it.

  • The CKEditor Insert Asset plugin is now added to admin pages only. It was inlined (about 26 KB) into every page, including public site pages, where CKEditor never runs. In the admin it now loads as a script file (asset/js/ckeditor-plugin/plugin.js) that browsers cache, instead of being repeated inline on each page.

  • Folder and search filtering now run as SQL queries with a join on the folder table instead of loading every asset and filtering in PHP. Large libraries page and search quickly, and the total count is accurate.
  • Drag-and-drop upload in the Asset Library: drop files anywhere on the page to upload them into the currently selected folder, with per-file progress and error feedback.
  • The CKEditor configuration now enables the image2 widget plugin alongside Insert Asset, so inserted images get drag-resize handles and alignment controls.
  • Admin sidebar link uses the images icon.
