Getting Started Omeka Classic plugin

Installation

Requirements

  • Omeka Classic 3.1 or later (tested with 3.2.2)
  • PHP 8.0 or later
  • A theme built on the Theme Engine, installed in themes/ and chosen as the public theme: Vitrine, Confetti, Plinth, Overprint or another RefBytes theme for Omeka Classic.

The plugin has no Composer dependencies and loads nothing from a CDN.

Installing

  1. Copy the DesignStudio folder into your Omeka plugins/ directory.
  2. Log in to the admin as a Super User.
  3. Go to Plugins and click Install next to Design Studio.

Installing creates one database table, design_studio_drafts (with your installation's table prefix), which holds drafts.

After installing, while the public theme is one the customizer supports, people allowed to configure themes get:

  • Customize in the admin menu;
  • a Customize with live preview button under Configure Theme on Appearance › Themes, and at the top of the Save panel on the Configure Theme page;
  • a Customize this site button at the bottom left of the public pages.

With other themes these links do not appear. See Opening the customizer.

Upgrading

Copy the new version over the existing plugins/DesignStudio folder, then visit Plugins and click Upgrade if it is offered.

Uninstalling

Go to Plugins and click Uninstall next to Design Studio. Uninstalling deletes every unpublished draft, the design_studio_drafts table, and the images uploaded for drafts that were never published. Published theme settings and images are not touched: they belong to the theme.
