Cards
Browse pages, search results, the home page and shortcodes show items as cards pasted on the page: the picture inset like a photo on a card, a sticker for what the item is, its date, and its title.
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| Line under the card title | Type and date (the default): the item's Dublin Core Type as a sticker, such as FLYER or ZINE, then its date. Item type and date: the item's item type as the sticker. Creator and date, Date only, or Nothing. |
| Description on cards | In list view only (the default): in a grid, cards are pictures with a title, like a wall of flyers; in list view each row has room for three lines. Or the first three or five lines, the full description, or hidden. |
| Card image shape | Original proportions (most presets): each picture whole, so cards in a row end at different heights, like a bulletin board. Or landscape, square, portrait or wide, cropped or whole (Card image fit). |
| Card size, Default layout, Let visitors switch between grid and list | How many cards per row on a wide screen; a grid or a list; a grid/list switch for visitors |
The type is the item's Type element (Dublin Core), such as "Flyer", "Zine", "Cassette", "Photograph" or "Band"; an item without one shows its item type (such as "Still Image") instead. The same word sits above the title on the item's own page.
In list view, cards stack straight, like index cards, with the picture to the side.
Item pages

An item's page shows its picture taped down on the page and, beside it, its record as an index card: each element between ruled lines, with its name in the label font, and a rule of the first ink under each element set's heading ("Dublin Core", "Still Image Item Type Metadata"). Under the card, the panels are cut-out coupons with dashed edges: Rights & reuse, Cite this, the collection, Filed under (the item's subjects and tags, as stickers) and Share.

| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Page layout | The record and its coupons on the right of the picture (the default) or on its left, or everything in one column, the picture first |
| Files on item pages | Gallery: one large file, with thumbnails of the others · Grid of all files · Each file at full width, one after another |
| Wall label | A museum-style caption at the top of the coupons. Off by default. |
| Previous and next links through the item's collection | On by default: the previous and next flyer, zine or tape in the same box. |
| Rights & reuse, Cite this, Share | Coupons, on by default |
| Downloads | Links to each file's original, with its format and size. Off by default. |
| Subject and tag links | Filed under: the item's subjects and tags as stickers linking to everything filed under them. On by default. |
| Shorten long value lists | Elements with more values than this show the first few and a "Show all" button. 0 always shows every value. |
Item pages always show the original picture, whatever Pictures printed in two inks says. See Item and file pages for what each coupon shows.
Bands, people and groups
Give each band, artist or group an item of its own, with the item type Person, a Type such as "Band", its years as its Date, a short history as its Description and, if you have one, a photo as its file. With A person's works on (under Item pages), its page lists every item whose Creator is exactly its title, taped up as cards: a band's tapes and flyers, an artist's zines. For items about a band rather than by it, add the band's name as a Subject: the Filed under stickers on those pages link to everything filed under the band.
Exhibits
Exhibit navigation puts an exhibit's page menu beside each page as an index card, in a menu above it, or leaves only previous and next links. Exhibit cover pastes the cover image beside the exhibit's title as a large banner, beside the description, or leaves it out. An exhibit's pages appear on its first page as numbered stamped tiles; files are taped beside the text, and galleries are contact sheets with numbered frames. See Exhibits.
Home page banner
Overprint's Home page › Banner style has two choices: The picture pasted beside the words (the default), or The words, then the picture pasted below them. The heading is set big on the paper, like a cover line, and the picture is taped down; without a picture, the banner is the heading and text alone, set big on the paper. With Pictures printed in two inks on, the banner's picture prints in the second ink. See Home page for the other home page settings.
