Header
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| Logo, Logo size | Your logo (PNG, JPG or GIF, up to 1 MB), from small to extra large. Without a logo, the site's title is set in the heading font: as a big masthead in the masthead layout. |
| Site title, Tagline | Show the title only when there is no logo, or always beside it; an optional line under it, set in capitals in the label font |
| Header layout | Masthead, Bar or Nameplate (see below). Follows the preset unless you choose one. |
| Header color | Page background, lightly tinted, primary, secondary or dark. The text color follows, at WCAG AA contrast. On the page background the site's title prints in the second ink; on a colored header it takes the header's text color. |
| Keep the header visible while scrolling | Keeps the header in view; best with the bar, since the masthead is tall |
| Search | A search field, a search button that opens a field, or no search |
| Header button label, link | An optional button, such as "Lend your box", linking to a path on your site or a full address |
| Menu levels | How many levels of the site navigation the header shows (0 for all) |
The menu is Omeka's Appearance › Navigation: drag a link under another to make a submenu.
Header layouts
Masthead sets the site's name big, like the cover of a zine, with the first ink slipping out from behind it, the search and buttons beside it, and the menu below as a row of stamped labels. The name gets smaller the longer it is, so a long name still fits on a line or two.
Bar puts the name on the left and the menu, search and buttons on the right. A menu of five or more labels moves to its own row.
Nameplate puts the name in the middle like a newsletter's nameplate, with the search on one side, the buttons on the other, and the menu centered below a double rule.
The current page's menu label is filled with the first ink. Submenus open as cards with the second ink under them. On phones and tablets, every layout is the name and a menu button that opens the menu as a panel.
Announcement bar
The strip across the top of every page: an issue line ("Issue 03 · All ages, always"), opening hours, a call for donations. Announcement takes text and links, set in capitals in the label font; Announcement bar color is secondary (the key plate's black in most presets), primary, accent, dark or lightly tinted.
Footer
| Setting | Use |
|---|---|
| Footer color | Secondary (most presets), dark, primary, lightly tinted or the page background |
| Footer columns 1 to 3 | Where to find you, how to lend or donate, contact: text with headings and links, written in the rich-text editor |
| Repeat the main menu | The menu's top level as links in the footer |
| Social media links | One address per line; Overprint shows each network's name |
| Contact, accessibility statement and privacy pages | Links in the footer's last line, in the same place on every page. Enter a path on your site, such as /about, or a full address. |
| Copyright line | {year} and {site} fill in the year and the site's title |
| Back to top | A link back to the top of the page |
Funders & partners adds a row of up to four logos above the footer, with a heading such as "Supported by". Give each logo its organization's name: screen readers read it in place of the logo.
