Header
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| Logo, Logo size | Your logo (PNG, JPG or GIF, up to 1 MB), from small to extra large. Without a logo, the site's title shows in the heading font. |
| Site title, Tagline | Show the title only when there is no logo, or always beside it; an optional line under it |
| Header layout | Side rail, Top bar or Over the image (see below). Follows the preset unless you choose one. |
| Header color | Page background, lightly tinted, primary, secondary or dark. The text color follows, at WCAG AA contrast. |
| Keep the header visible while scrolling | For the top bar and the bar over the image, and for every layout on phones and tablets |
| Search | A search field, a search button that opens a field, or no search |
| Header button label, link | An optional button, such as "Plan your visit", linking to a path on your site or a full address |
| Menu levels | How many levels of the site navigation the header shows (0 for all) |
The menu is Omeka's Appearance › Navigation: drag a link under another to make a submenu.
Header layouts
Side rail keeps the site's name, menu and search in a column down the left edge of wide screens, beside the page. Submenus open in place under their item, and the light/dark switch sits at the rail's foot. The rail stays in view as the page scrolls. While the page beside it is narrow (up to 1280 pixels wide), item pages put the wall label under the work.
Top bar puts the name on the left and the menu, search and buttons on the right. A long menu moves to its own row on mid-size screens.
Over the image is a top bar that floats on the home page's banner, when the banner has a picture and its Banner style puts the text over the image or below it. The bar lies on a dark band that fades into the picture, so white text stays readable on any picture. Upload a Logo for dark mode (under Dark mode) to show a light logo on the band. On every other page, and once the page scrolls with a sticky header, it is a plain top bar.
On phones and tablets, every layout is a top bar with a menu button that opens the menu as a panel.
Announcement bar
A short notice above the header on every page, such as opening hours or a new exhibition. Announcement takes text and links; Announcement bar color is secondary, primary, accent, dark or lightly tinted.
Footer
| Setting | Use |
|---|---|
| Footer color | Dark, secondary, primary, lightly tinted or the page background |
| Footer columns 1 to 3 | Visit, admission, contact: text with headings and links, written in the rich-text editor |
| Repeat the main menu | The menu's top level as links in the footer |
| Social media links | One address per line; Plinth shows each network's name |
| Contact, accessibility statement and privacy pages | Links in the footer's last line, in the same place on every page. Enter a path on your site, such as /visit, or a full address. |
| Copyright line | {year} and {site} fill in the year and the site's title |
| Back to top | A link back to the top of the page |
Funders & partners adds a row of up to four logos above the footer, with a heading such as "Supported by". Give each logo its organization's name: screen readers read it in place of the logo.
